About High Plains RocketChar Biochar Stoves

With much of the world looking for ways to remove carbon from the atmosphere High Plains Biochar has a very simple solution.  Our patent pending RocketChar biochar furnaces utilize rocket stove technology to create biochar from wood chips, wood pellets, corn, crop residues, and other biomass.  This is the worlds first continuous rocket stove designed specifically for the production of biochar.  Because this technology does not require electric fans for moving air the power consumption is only a fraction of the other technologies available making this among the most energy efficient continuous biochar technologies in the world.  Truly the Prius of biochar equipment.  This is real carbon negative technology for the real world.

Most existing biochar technology uses significantly more energy than our RocketChar furnaces.  Most require lot of electricity for fans to move air, do not utilize the heat produced, require fossil fuels to operate, or the or even use electricity to heat a tube.

The RocketChar 301 will process 8-15 gallons of fuel per hour and yeild varies from 15-30% depending on the feedstock.

What makes our RocketChar bio char furnace technology different

Watch: Rocketchar 301 Biochar Production Unit Overview

1. Power Consumption

 Because rocket stoves draft naturally we do not require large electric fans to operate.  Just a minimum amount of electricity to operate augers to move biomass through the retort. We also do not require fossil fuels for startup, operation, or fuel drying.

4. Flexibility

Because of the design our RocketChar furnace can burn a variety of feedstock including those with some moisture content, up to 30%.  Wood chips, wood pellets, hemp, agricultural residue, etc will all work in our equipment.

2. Heat Utilization

Because this heat is useable the carbon footprint of this technology is much different than technology that wastes the heat produced.  This can be done with air/air heat exchangers tied to duct work to move heated air or with air/water heat exchangers so the heated liquid can be piped for other uses.

5. Time Control

Because our augers are independently controlled we can adjust dwell time depending on the feedstock to maximize efficiency.  Other equipment does not offer this kind of control over the quality of biochar produced.

3. Emissions

Because our industrial rocket stoves burn in excess of 2,000 degrees the emissions are minimized.  Most biochar equipment never gets closet to these temps so they inevitably produce a lot more smoke and emissions.

6. Strategic Partners

We are currently seeking strategic partners to distribute this technology internationally.  Please contact Rowdy@HPBiochar.com if you are interested.

The RocketChar 301 is an extremely energy efficient biochar furnace / pyrolyzer packed with features only found on much more expensive biochar equipment.

The RC301 offers easy startup and does not require an propane or natural gas. The RC301 is extremely energy efficient due to not requiring fans for flue gas or combustion air. This allows the furnace to operate on less than 3 amps of electricity at 110v, and 2 amps of that is just the heat exchanger fan. This is truly the Prius of small scale biochar equipment. The furnace can operate on a wide variety of biomass including wood chips, hemp, crop residues, etc. as long as it will flow through a 3" auger which feeds the system. The machine is appx 10 ft tall and has a footprint of 5 ft x 10 ft.

Input = 10 - 15 Gallons +/- of wood chips or biomass per hour

Output = Appx 15 - 30% by volume.

Heat = appx 100k BTU/hr  is available. We offer different heat exchanger options for air or liquid applications.

Fuel = Biomass that will flow through a 3" auger. No pieces bigger that 1-1/4". MC up to 30%. Machine has several adjustable features that allow fine tuning for different fuels.

Site Requirements = A single, 110V outlet. Furnace uses appx 6 amps during startup lasting approximately 5 minutes, 3 amps while running. Truly the Prius of continuous automated biochar equipment.

Biochar quench = Water/ Steam via pump with adjustable digital controls.

Ignition = Electric pellet igniters or manual ignition.

Chimney = 8"

Fuel Feed System = 12 ft long auger with vibrating bin.

Controls = Color screen, automatic temperature control, data plotting, remote operation via phone/computer, data collection for carbon credit verification. 90V DC gearmotors for speed adjustment and dwell time adjustment.

Options = Air to air and air to Liquid heat exchangers.

Cost = $40k USD

Lead time = 120 days.

Term = 50% deposit, remaining 50% due upon completion
